David Karczewski, a Wisconsin-born Spencer resident, was diagnosed with Multiple sclerosis (M.S.) eighteen years ago. David and his family endured a lot throughout the years, but finally came to the decision to find a solution. Only to lead to the discovery that there is an extensive waitlist for M.S. treatment in the US, that is also quite expensive. The family turned to various alternatives, upon finally landing on the decision of sending David to India for treatment. The trip and medical cost are expensive but the family only needs $15,000.
Late August 2016, Carlos Cortez, Ariel Cortez, and Taylor Hawes members of a local band met David and his family when they were invited to play for a College Night Out event in Downtown Salisbury. Their participation could have gone tarnished if it wasn’t for David’s generous offer of letting them use the electrical outlets in the family’s local business establishment formerly known as Ruby’s Fashion Boutique. When the band later discovered David’s struggle with M.S., and how it led to the closing of Ruby’s Fashion Boutique. The band knew something had to be done.
The benefit concert was set for June 25th at 6pm in Grievous Gallery, the event included live music by CAROLINA CLAY & BERGENLINE, live entertainment by COMICS AT FAULT, refreshments, and food. There was also a raffle going on that night to raise money for David as well. All proceeds from this event went towards getting David his treatment.
CORTEZ COLLECTIVE PRODUCTIONS MANAGED TO RAISE $512.00 FOR DAVID.
